The National Vesak Festival for 2025 commenced in Nuwara Eliya and will continue until 16th of May.
This year’s Vesak Week is celebrated under the theme, “Let’s associate with noble people with good qualities.”
As part of the celebrations, the Public Health Inspectors Union of Sri Lanka announced that 8,712 Dansals have been registered across the island.
The Union stressed the need for all Dansals to strictly follow health and safety regulations, with 2,500 Public Health Inspectors deployed nationwide for monitoring.
In line with the religious observances, the Excise Department announced that all liquor stores and meat outlets will remain closed during the Vesak period.
