National hospital confirms Ranil’s condition stable

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s health condition is stable, the National Hospital in Colombo confirmed yesterday.

Acting Director of the Colombo National Hospital, Dr. Pradeep Wijesinghe, told the media that Wickremesinghe’s blood pressure was slightly high due to his age but clarified that his transfer to the ICU was only a precautionary measure.

“He is not in a critical condition,” Dr. Wijesinghe assured.

Wickremesinghe was moved to the National Hospital earlier today after medical assessments highlighted the need for specialist care not available at the prison hospital. He was first admitted to the prison hospital yesterday, following his court-ordered remand, due to multiple health complications.
