Namal Rajapaksa has claimed that several members of the current government have maintained closer ties with former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa than he has.

Speaking to the media in Colombo, Namal Rajapaksa alleged that some government figures who have associated with Basil Rajapaksa since 2005 regularly contact him to discuss the country’s affairs and current situation.
Responding to questions about Basil Rajapaksa’s return to Sri Lanka, Namal said those seeking answers should direct their inquiries to those government members, whom he described as Basil Rajapaksa’s friends.
“He is my uncle, but he is their friend,” Rajapaksa remarked, claiming that some government figures speak with Basil Rajapaksa on a regular basis.
