Former Minister Johnston Fernando has claimed that all intelligence reports regarding the upcoming presidential election indicate Namal Rajapaksa will become the next President of Sri Lanka.
Speaking at a recent event in Ratnapura, Fernando said that even people in rural areas are discussing Namal as the country’s next leader. “There’s talk in the village that Namal will be the next President. All reports have already been given,” he said.
Challenging the government, he stated, “We are ready to face any kind of test or investigation regarding these reports. Back then, they brought a heap of files in a double cab but found nothing. They only need to file the case.”
He accused the current administration of misleading the public, claiming it came to power through deception. “They took power by deceiving people and confusing their minds. But now people have understood the truth. They will make a change,” Fernando added.
He further alleged that the government is attempting to block Namal Rajapaksa’s political rise by pursuing legal action against him. “The government is afraid. They are planning to file cases and have him remanded. But they know Namal Rajapaksa is the next leader,” he claimed.
Fernando also said that during recent visits to several foreign embassies, diplomats expressed the view that Namal Rajapaksa is poised to become the next President of Sri Lanka.
