SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has urged President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to present a clear and accurate breakdown of foreign direct investments (FDIs) received and those still pending.
He accused the government of causing confusion among the public by issuing contradictory statements regarding FDI figures.
In a post shared on X, Rajapaksa pointed out inconsistencies between the President’s claim of USD 96 million in FDI for the first quarter of 2025 and Minister Sunil Handunnetti’s assertion of USD 650 million.
He noted that the President later revised the figure, stating that USD 4.6 billion in investment proposals had been received so far this year, though the funds had not yet been realized.
Rajapaksa claimed these conflicting statements indicate disarray within the President’s administration and a lack of clarity on key economic matters.
He called on the President to correct the record and provide the public with an accurate and transparent account of the country’s FDI status.
