Opposition MP Namal Rajapaksa and several opposition lawmakers have officially launched a new political platform named “A Team – Next Wave”, aimed at strengthening opposition unity across Sri Lanka.

The initiative brings together MPs, political parties, independent groups and individuals who believe their voices are not adequately represented in Parliament.
The platform says it will work closely with opposition forces inside and outside Parliament to highlight major public concerns, including the economy, taxes, agriculture, fisheries, youth, graduates and education.
Its founders also hope to build a broader alliance by uniting different opposition parties and independent groups under a common vision.
According to the organisers, Sri Lanka needs an experienced political team capable of addressing the country’s growing challenges and providing effective alternatives.
They say the long-term objective of “A Team – Next Wave” is to develop into a united opposition movement and eventually become Sri Lanka’s next national political team.
