Opposition MP Namal Rajapaksa has alleged that former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena was subjected to pressure and intimidation by investigative authorities prior to his alleged suicide.

Speaking at a media briefing, he claimed that Chandrasena was pressured to make statements implicating former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and members of his family.
Namal Rajapaksa further alleged that Chandrasena was threatened with imprisonment and mentally harassed in an attempt to extract statements in line with investigators’ expectations.
He also accused the government of misusing state institutions, including the police and investigative agencies, for political purposes.
At the same time, he emphasized that while anyone accused of wrongdoing should face fair and transparent investigations, intimidation, threats, and coercion should not be used during investigative processes.
