Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa has challenged the government to release the full fuel pricing formula, calling for greater transparency in how fuel prices are calculated.

Speaking at a public meeting in Colombo, Rajapaksa questioned why fuel prices remain high despite falling global oil prices and reductions seen in some regional markets.

He called on authorities to disclose all elements included in fuel pricing, including import costs, taxes, transport expenses and profit margins.

Rajapaksa said that if the government claims fuel is being subsidised, the public should be allowed to verify the figures through a detailed cost breakdown.

He also criticised the government’s economic policies, highlighting concerns over the cost of living, unemployment and challenges faced by businesses.

The opposition figure further urged stronger support for farmers and fishermen, saying relief measures and transparency are essential to ease pressure on Sri Lankan families.
