Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has accused the government of betraying young people and teachers who supported it while it was in opposition.
Speaking to journalists in Kamburupitiya, Rajapaksa said that despite a shortage of teachers and prior agreements on recruitment procedures, qualified individuals are being denied appointments for political reasons. He claimed that many of these teachers had met the required qualifications and had even obtained legal recognition for their recruitment process.
Rajapaksa added that teachers who continued educating students during periods of unrest are now being sidelined because of their political affiliations. He described this as part of a broader political agenda aimed at marginalizing those who do not support the ruling party.
