Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organizer MP Namal Rajapaksa has criticized the government for taking almost a year to arrest Ishara Sewwandi, a key suspect in the killing of underworld figure ‘Ganemulla Sanjeewa.’
“It took the government a year to arrest Sewwandi. So where did it have time to serve the people? Now that Sewwandi has been arrested, the government finally has time to work,” Rajapaksa remarked.
Addressing the government’s anti-narcotics campaign, he said the administration does not need the opposition’s assistance, as it already possesses the necessary intelligence and resources to combat the drug underworld.
“If the government does something wrong, we are ready as the opposition to point out those mistakes,” he added, emphasizing the SLPP’s willingness to hold the government accountable.
Commenting on the upcoming provincial council elections, Rajapaksa stated, “We will decide how to act only after the elections are announced.”
