Namal calls on SLPP leaders to assist communities hit by severe weather

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa has called on all SLPP Electoral Organizers and Village Leaders to provide full support to communities affected by the ongoing adverse weather.

Responding to journalists, Rajapaksa urged party members to actively participate in relief efforts, emphasizing the importance of immediate assistance at the community level.

“I request all SLPP leaders to offer maximum support to the state’s disaster management and relief programs,” he said, highlighting the party’s experience in community service and relief operations as a key asset during this crisis.

He also urged the government to expedite relief measures without being delayed by unnecessary regulations. “The government must act practically, understand the reality on the ground, and deliver relief swiftly to prevent people from being left helpless,” he added.

Rajapaksa encouraged the public to prioritize safety, paying special attention to children, the elderly, the sick, and those with special needs.

He expressed gratitude to all state officials, including rural field officers, Divisional and District Secretariats, and Disaster Management Centers, for their efforts in managing the situation.

“We stand with you and share the pain of all those affected,” he concluded.
