Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa today said that Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, who oversees the Ministry of Education, should resign over the controversial Grade 6 English Module, rather than a Ministry official.
He told reporters that while the head of the committee responsible for the module has resigned, it is the Prime Minister who should step down, as she appointed the committee head and holds overall responsibility for the Ministry.
MP Rajapaksa criticised the Ministry Secretary for filing a complaint with the CID, arguing that it is unreasonable to claim that an outsider cannot print the book and that it must be printed within the Ministry.
He added, “No one can cheat the Ministry Secretary. One person cannot take a decision on a subject or subject area either.”
