The present Government is prepared to act against local culture and religious values in order to ensure its political survival, SLPP National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa alleged.
Speaking at a media briefing, Rajapaksa said recent remarks by Minister K.D. Lalkantha had reinforced these concerns. He claimed that statements about attacking those wearing coats and disregarding those in saffron robes signalled a willingness by the Government to undermine cultural and religious traditions.
According to Rajapaksa, such comments reflect a broader attitude within the Government that prioritises survival in power over respect for Sri Lanka’s cultural and religious heritage.
