Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman has denied reports of an internal effort to replace Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, warning instead of a targeted conspiracy to politically undermine both the party and its leadership.
Speaking at a media briefing, Rahman stated, “There has been no discussion within the SJB to remove Sajith Premadasa from his position as Opposition Leader,” and claimed that certain groups are actively working to destabilize the party, possibly with the government’s silent backing.
He also addressed the topic of forming new political alliances, expressing support for including experienced politicians like Dayasiri Jayasekara, calling him “a capable and seasoned politician” whose inclusion would help strengthen the SJB.
