A photograph of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi enjoying king coconut water has gone viral on social media, capturing a refreshing moment of camaraderie during the Indian leader’s official visit.
The candid shot was taken during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the Presidential Secretariat on Saturday morning (April 5), following his arrival in Sri Lanka at the invitation of President Dissanayake.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit reaffirms the theme “Friendship of Centuries — Commitment to a Prosperous Future,” reflecting the deep and longstanding relationship between the two nations.
Earlier that morning, an official welcome ceremony was held at Independence Square in Colombo, under the patronage of President Dissanayake. Prime Minister Modi was ceremoniously escorted with a Police Mounted Guard of Honour and greeted warmly by the Sri Lankan President.
The national anthems of both India and Sri Lanka were played, followed by full state honours including a ceremonial guard of honour and a gun salute. Prime Minister Modi then inspected the Guard of Honour presented by the Sri Lanka Armed Forces.
Later, the two leaders proceeded to the Presidential Secretariat to inaugurate three major development projects in Sri Lanka, carried out with assistance from the Indian Government.
