MOD reviews progress on defence headquarters complex construction

A high-level progress review meeting on the Defence Headquarters Complex project was held at the Ministry of Defence in Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.

The meeting was chaired by Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), focusing on evaluating construction progress, addressing challenges, and strengthening coordination among agencies to ensure timely completion, according to a Ministry statement.

Project teams presented updates on key milestones, infrastructure readiness, and revised timelines. The Defence Secretary emphasized the strategic importance of the complex as a centralized command hub and urged all stakeholders to maintain quality standards and adhere to schedules.

Tri-Forces Commanders reaffirmed their commitment to the project, highlighting the need for ongoing collaboration.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, representatives from the Tri-Forces, and project officers attended the session. Once completed, the complex will provide a modern and secure headquarters for Sri Lanka’s defence administration, the Ministry added.
