Minister urges NMRA, SPC, SPMC, MSD to ensure continuous supply of quality medicines

Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa emphasized the urgency of resolving issues related to the supply of medicines, stating that the NMRA, SPC, SPMC, and MSD must take responsibility for ensuring a continuous supply of quality medicines to the public.

The Minister called for the four institutions to work together and assured that the government is prepared to make necessary changes and amend laws to address these challenges.

In a meeting with officials, Dr. Jayatissa highlighted that the government will prioritize strengthening Sri Lanka’s primary health care system.

He mentioned that the government aims to implement a policy and action plan that remains consistent despite changes in government or ministers.

Dr. Jayatissa stressed the need for a national policy and program to drive a quality transformation in the health sector.

The Minister proposed giving the highest priority to strengthening the primary health care system in Sri Lanka over the next decade.
