Minister unveils new passport issuance target

During the first meeting of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs of the Tenth Parliament, held on the 22nd, Minister Ananda Wijepala confirmed the government’s plans for passport issuance.


He stated that all remaining passports scheduled for issuance will be processed within a month.


Additionally, the Minister announced the launch of a 24-hour passport issuance service to improve accessibility.


A passport issuance office will soon be established in Jaffna once the necessary printing equipment is acquired.


The Minister also revealed plans to double the number of passports issued at local council offices to meet increasing demand.
