
Minister of Women and Child Affairs Hon. Saroja Savithri Paulraj has stressed the importance of stronger ground-level engagement to enhance the welfare of women and children in Sri Lanka, stating, “We must become even more active on the ground for the betterment of women and children in our country.”
She made these remarks during a special discussion held on October 17 at the Polonnaruwa District Secretariat, which focused on reviewing ongoing projects related to women’s protection, economic and social empowerment, and the care and early childhood development of children in the district.
During the meeting, Minister Paulraj engaged in detailed discussions with officials about the challenges faced by women and children and the Ministry’s initiatives to address these issues effectively.
The event was attended by North Central Province Governor Hon. Wasantha Jinasena, State Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply and Polonnaruwa District MP Hon. T. B. Sarath, Members of Parliament Hon. Sunil Rathnasiri and Hon. Padmasiri Bandara, Additional District Secretary Ms. Nirosha Hapuhinna, and field officers from the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs in Polonnaruwa District.
