
Parliamentary leader of the ruling United Russia in the State Duma, Vladimir Vasilyev, met with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development and Leader of the House of Parliament, Bimal Rathnayake.
The meeting, held at the State Duma, focused on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation between Russia and Sri Lanka.
Both sides discussed enhancing collaboration based on long-standing historical ties and agreed to revive the parliamentary friendship group.
Vasilyev noted that strong trade relations have existed between the two countries for many years and said that more than 800 Sri Lankan students are currently studying at Russian universities.
He also highlighted the potential to use Russia’s capabilities to support bilateral cooperation despite ongoing global challenges.
