Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Prof. Anil Jayantha Fernando, held high-level discussions in Singapore with Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth & Manpower, Dinesh Vasu Dash, and Minister of State for National Development, Alvin Tan.
Prof. Fernando visited Singapore from August 11 to 13, 2025, to participate in the Invest Sri Lanka Investor Forum, organised by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka and the Colombo Stock Exchange, in collaboration with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore.
In his meeting with Minister Vasu Dash, discussions focused on strengthening worker protection, skills recognition, and training opportunities to better align Sri Lankan workers with the evolving needs of Singapore’s economy. Prof. Fernando also highlighted the need to diversify employment opportunities for Sri Lankans in sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Minister Vasu Dash reaffirmed Singapore’s willingness to collaborate with Sri Lanka in attracting skilled and competent workers across various industries.
In addition, Prof. Fernando met with representatives of foreign employment agencies operating in Singapore, at the Sri Lankan High Commission, to further strengthen cooperation on employment opportunities for Sri Lankans.
