Millions of Australians will gain an extra hour of sleep this Easter long weekend as daylight saving time comes to an end. On Sunday, April 5, at 3am AEDT, clocks will be turned back one hour to 2am, giving people an extra hour in the morning.

Most smartphones and digital devices will update automatically, although some older devices, such as certain phones, microwaves, and ovens, may need to be adjusted manually. People in all participating regions will benefit from the time change, so they can enjoy the extra rest.
Daylight saving is observed in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and the ACT, while Queensland, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory do not follow the system. The practice is used to make better use of daylight during different seasons, giving longer evenings in warmer months and brighter mornings when clocks are set back.
