
Afterpay is experiencing a global platform-wide outage, leaving millions of users unable to make payments.
The issue, which began around 2 p.m. AEDT today, is affecting the app, consumer and merchant portals, online and in-store services, and the shop directory.
Users in Australia, New Zealand, North America, and Canada are all impacted by the outage.
An Afterpay spokesperson said, “We are experiencing an outage at the moment that is affecting services. Our team is working hard to resolve this ASAP and we’ll provide another update shortly.”
Investigations into the cause of the outage are ongoing.
Afterpay is a widely used buy now, pay later service that allows customers to purchase items immediately and pay in four interest-free instalments. It has approximately 3.5 million customers in Australia and more than 24 million users worldwide.
