Melbourne’s weather clock unveiled

A climate change alarm clock, named “Zone Red,” has been installed at Edinburgh Park in North Fitzroy, Melbourne.

Designed by Yandell Walton, the solar-powered clock serves as a visual reminder of the urgent need to address climate change and will remain in place until 2030.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has warned that carbon emissions must be reduced to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Rising temperatures are not just statistics but signals of severe weather events, polar ice loss, rising sea levels, and widespread environmental destruction.

Walton stated that “Zone Red” is an artistic representation of the dangers posed by climate change. The installation will remain in the park until April.
