Residents of North Melbourne have reported ongoing disturbances caused by a man who has been threatening locals by scattering rubbish from their bins onto the streets.
The incidents have been occurring since February 2024 across multiple streets, including Eades St, Arden St, Haines St, Dryburgh St, O’Shanassy St, and Vale St.
Locals have described the man as a nuisance to the community but also expressed concern for his mental health, noting that he has been engaging in this behaviour for over a year.
To avoid confrontation, some residents have started taking their bins out as early as 6:30 a.m.
While residents have suggested costly measures like installing security gates and floodlights, they hope for more effective, long-term solutions in the future.
Despite multiple reports to North Melbourne Police and the City of Melbourne, no significant action has been taken so far. However, the City Council has assisted by cleaning the affected areas several times.
