Melbourne Surya Udana 2025

The biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in Australia, the 2025 Melbourne Surya Udana, is just five days away.

All preparations are complete for the event, which will take place at ANZAC Park in Craigieburn from 8 a.m. on Sunday 13th of April and continue throughout the day.

Organized for the 20th time by the Northern Victorian Sri Lankan Welfare and Cultural Association of Australia, the festival promises a vibrant celebration of Sri Lankan culture. Media sponsorship is proudly provided by Auslanka TV and Auslanka Radio, Australia’s leading Sri Lankan media network.

The event will feature live performances by Australia’s popular music group “Mystery” and rising star Gayan Gunawardena. Organizers expect over ten thousand attendees, including members of the Sri Lankan community from across Melbourne.

The festival will include a traditional New Year dinner table, cultural rituals, and a variety of games and competitions for all age groups. A special highlight will be the anointing of the New Year Princess of Australia at 3:00 p.m.

This year’s Surya Udana will also feature a Street Food Carnival with a wide range of delicious food and drinks, along with numerous market stalls. Prizes will be awarded for all competitions, and every child under five will receive a gift.

Adding to the excitement, a raffle has been introduced, with several airline tickets to Sri Lanka as the main prize.

For ticket information, contact Uditha at 0431 752 552 or Ranga at 0425 800 028. For general festival inquiries, you can reach out to Imbulana at 0425 815 152 or Upul at 0413 585 436.
