Melbourne hit by Car theft spree

Police report a series of car thefts across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, beginning in the early hours of 26th of April .

The incidents started with a break-in at a house on Spring Street, Malvern, around 2:40am, where thieves stole car keys and fled with a vehicle.

About 40 minutes later, they threatened two women at a home on Charles Street, Brighton East, and stole another car.

An hour later, an attempted break-in at Almurta Road, Bentleigh East, was foiled when the residents chased the intruders away.

At around 4:45am, thieves broke into a house on Pascoe Street, Glen Iris, and stole four cars, including a BMW.

Police later found the M5 sedan abandoned in Wheelers Hill, but no arrests have been made.
