AllTrails, a leading platform for outdoor enthusiasts, has released its 2024 list of Australia’s best hiking trails, based on data collected throughout the year.
The findings also revealed that Australia ranked third globally for time spent on hiking trails in 2024, with Aussies collectively covering an impressive 11 million kilometers—highlighting their deep appreciation for outdoor adventures.
The third most popular trail in Australia for 2024 is the Mount Lofty Loop in Melbourne’s Warrandyte State Park. This family-friendly hike features a mix of uphill climbs that get the heart racing, rewarding hikers with spectacular views of the Yarra Valley and the distant Dandenong Ranges.
The five-kilometer trail is also known for its wildlife sightings, and those looking to cool off can take a refreshing dip in the Yarra River.
Topping the list as Australia’s most popular hike is the Grand Canyon Track in the Blue Mountains National Park, a short yet challenging trail through lush, World Heritage-listed rainforest.
Coming in second is the famous Bondi to Coogee Beach Walk in NSW. Perth’s Whistlepipe Gully and Lesmurdie Falls Loop, along with Brisbane’s Enoggera Reservoir Circuit, complete the top five.
