NSW Health has issued a warning to locals after three infectious measles cases were reported in northern NSW.
The health authority confirmed that one of the infected individuals was an unvaccinated traveler returning from Vietnam, where a major measles outbreak is ongoing.
Measles is a highly contagious disease that spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Dr. David Durrheim emphasized that measles is preventable through vaccination and urged people to stay alert for symptoms.
Early symptoms of measles include fever, runny nose, sore eyes, and a cough, followed by a red, blotchy rash.
The disease can be severe and even fatal, particularly for young children, if left untreated.
NSW Health has advised people who visited specific locations to monitor for symptoms and seek medical advice if needed.
