A 40-year-old man, identified as Luke Walford, has tragically died after being attacked by a shark at a popular beach in Queensland.

According to reports, Walford was fishing near Hampi Island when the incident occurred. Police have confirmed that he was unconscious at the time due to severe neck injuries caused by the attack.

Hampi Island, renowned for its camping, diving, and snorkeling activities, is currently bustling with Australian tourists seeking relaxation.

Walford died from his injuries just after 6pm yesterday, Queensland police confirmed.
