Police reported that a couple escaped in their car after a man they knew began assaulting the male driver on The Esplanade in Narre Warren shortly after 10:30 pm last night.
The victim managed to drive away but collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Grices Road and Glasscocks Road in Cranbourne North.
The male victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and is believed to have been stabbed. No one else sustained serious injuries in the collision.
Police attended a nearby address and took a man into custody, who is currently assisting with their enquiries.
