A man is in custody after three of his family members were killed in an alleged violent attack at a home in Sydney’s south-west overnight.
The victims have been identified as the mother, father, and one brother of the arrested man, while another brother survived the incident but sustained injuries.
Emergency services were called to a house on Juliet Close in Rosemeadow just after 1.30am, where they discovered a 65-year-old woman inside the property. Despite efforts by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A search of the home and an adjoining granny flat later revealed the body of a 25-year-old man, while a 64-year-old man was found with serious head injuries. He was rushed to Liverpool Hospital but later died from his injuries.
A 30-year-old surviving brother managed to call police and was later treated in hospital before being discharged.
Superintendent Grant Healey described the scene as “horrendous,” stating that victims appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma and injuries consistent with an edged weapon. However, no weapon has yet been recovered, and investigations remain ongoing.
At around 2.30am, a silver sedan arrived at the property and police arrested a 32-year-old man, who is related to all four victims. The two deceased older victims were his parents, while the other two were his brothers.
He was taken into custody at Campbelltown Police Station and is assisting investigators but has not yet been charged.
Police said the family was not known for domestic violence incidents, and there were no prior warnings indicating such a tragedy could occur. A crime scene has been established, and homicide detectives are continuing their investigation. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
