A Malaysia Airlines pilot has been arrested in Indonesia after authorities allegedly found a large quantity of illegal drugs in his luggage.

Indonesian officials said the pilot was detained in Jakarta after customs officers discovered around 26 kilograms of ecstasy and methamphetamine during a baggage inspection.

Authorities allege the pilot tested positive for drugs and may have been operating a flight while under the influence.

The arrest followed an X-ray screening of his luggage, which raised suspicions among customs officers at the airport.

Indonesian police are investigating possible links to an international drug trafficking network, while Malaysia Airlines says it has launched an internal review and will cooperate with authorities.

The case has attracted widespread attention due to Indonesia’s strict drug laws, which include severe penalties for drug trafficking offenses.
