List of most expensive items in Australian supermarkets

A recent study has highlighted the most expensive goods sold in Australian supermarkets amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.

New data reveals that despite Boxing Day discounts and price cuts, consumers continue to face challenges with rising costs for everyday goods and services.

The study, conducted by a Canberra Parliamentary Library research group, shows that supermarket prices have reached record highs over the past two years.

Among the most notable price hikes, eggs have increased by 28.6 percent, while bread prices have risen by 22.7 percent.

Dairy products and cheese have also seen a significant rise, with prices climbing by 20 percent.

The study further indicates that the cost of fresh fruits has gone up by 20.4 percent, and cereals have increased by 20.2 percent.

However, prices for both mutton and beef have decreased by six percent.
