LGC services fully restored with no data loss, confirms ICTA

The Information Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) announced that the technical issues which recently disrupted the Lanka Government Cloud (LGC) services have been fully resolved, with all affected online government services now fully operational and accessible to the public.

ICTA assured that the security and integrity of data were never compromised during the incident, emphasizing that strict data protection and security standards were maintained throughout the restoration process and that no data loss had occurred.

Expressing gratitude, ICTA thanked government institutions for their cooperation during the recovery period, the public for their patience and understanding, and industry partners for their swift response and technical support, which enabled the rapid restoration of services and continuity of public operations.

Addressing recent reports, ICTA clarified that the new and upgraded LGC environment, which had been previously contracted, is now ready to take over workloads from the existing system through a planned migration process. However, it stressed that this migration had not begun at the time of the disruption and was unrelated to the system failure.

ICTA reaffirmed its commitment to providing uninterrupted digital government services, adding that ongoing measures are being implemented to strengthen the resilience, capacity, and reliability of the Lanka Government Cloud to support Sri Lanka’s growing digital ecosystem.
