A new digital platform aimed at protecting and supporting Sri Lankan migrant workers has been launched with the introduction of the “LankaKonect” Complaint Management Application.

The application was officially unveiled on International Domestic Workers’ Day through a joint initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The launch ceremony in Colombo was attended by Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijith Herath, Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra, ILO Country Director Joni Simpson, government officials, diplomatic representatives, and other stakeholders.

Developed with technical support from Sri Lanka Telecom, the LankaKonect mobile application provides Sri Lankan migrant workers around the world with a simple and accessible platform to submit complaints, request assistance, track case progress, and receive important information and support services.

The application connects key institutions, including the SLBFE, the Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Sri Lankan diplomatic missions overseas, creating a centralized system for managing migrant worker concerns.

Officials said the platform will help improve coordination between agencies, enable faster responses to complaints, and strengthen protection mechanisms for Sri Lankans working abroad.

Initially designed as a complaint management tool, LankaKonect has been expanded into a broader digital service platform for Sri Lankans overseas, including those engaged in employment, education, and residency abroad.

The application is available free of charge through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Authorities said the launch represents a major step towards digital transformation, improved public service delivery, and ensuring the rights, welfare, and dignity of Sri Lankan migrant workers worldwide.
