The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) announced that the laboratory report on the chemical substances discovered in Kandana—suspected to be Ice (methamphetamine)—will be released within this week.
The Board said laboratory testing of the seized substances is currently in progress.
According to the NDDCB, the chemical substances previously found in Middeniya and Netolpitiya in Tangalle have been confirmed as methamphetamine, commonly known as Ice.
Meanwhile, the substance seized from a Moldovan national in Weligama was identified as mephedrone, a highly dangerous synthetic drug.
Authorities revealed that the recent discoveries in Middeniya, Netolpitiya, and Kandana were made following information provided by members of an organized crime group arrested in Indonesia. Samples from all these seizures were sent to the NDDCB for laboratory analysis.
