A large consignment of narcotics, valued at approximately Rs. 16.84 million, was discovered yesterday (20th) in the men’s bathroom of the arrivals terminal at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.
The haul included 422 grams of Kush cannabis and 1.262 kilograms of Hashish, with an estimated street value of Rs. 16.84 million, according to an Ada Derana reporter.
The discovery was first made by a member of the cleaning staff, who noticed suspicious parcels and immediately informed the Airport Customs Narcotics Control Division.
The case was then handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers stationed at the airport, who took the consignment into custody.
The Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Bureau has since launched further investigations into the incident.
