The Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) will be transformed into an international defence university, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya announced in Parliament today.
She was responding to a query from MP Ravi Karunanayake when she confirmed that the government plans to introduce legal reforms to facilitate this conversion.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya stated that the move aligns with the original vision of the late Prime Minister Sir John Kotelawala, who donated the land for the establishment of the university.
She also criticized past administrations, claiming that they had managed KDU based on political agendas rather than long-term national interest.
