The city of Kandy, Sri Lanka, is grappling with a significant garbage crisis following the gathering of thousands of devotees to view the sacred tooth relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
The streets surrounding the temple have been overwhelmed with trash, including polythene bags, plastic bottles, and food wrappers, as there are no proper disposal facilities in place.
In response, the police have urged the public to avoid visiting the Dalada Maligawa for the next two days due to the growing number of visitors.
Municipal council employees have also struggled with waste management, and environmental organizations have expressed their concerns over the situation.
