The Sri Dalada Esala Perahera of the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy is set to begin on 25th of July .

The annual religious and cultural event will commence with the traditional ‘Kap planting’ ritual at the four main devalayas.
This will be followed by the five-day Ethul Perahera, which takes place within the temple premises, according to Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela.
The Kumbal Perahera and Randoli Perahera are scheduled to take to the streets from July 30, continuing for 10 days.
However, Diyawadana Nilame raised concerns over a shortage of elephants, which has become a significant issue in organizing this year’s Esala Perahera.
