Former Minister Johnston Fernando has alleged that there are serious suspicions surrounding the death of former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena, and has pledged that a fair investigation would be conducted under a future government led by Namal Rajapaksa.

He claimed that the police and independent commissions have become highly politicised, stating that he has no confidence in the current justice system. Fernando further alleged that Chandrasena’s death was “suspicious” and should be properly investigated.
He also claimed that an affidavit had revealed that the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption had previously pressured Chandrasena to implicate former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the case.
Fernando added that a future administration under Namal Rajapaksa would conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter and ensure accountability for any wrongdoing.
