JSC issues circular detailing annual salary increment criteria for labour tribunal presidents

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of Sri Lanka has issued a circular outlining the criteria for granting annual salary increments to Presidents of Labour Tribunals.

Dated 21st of January , the circular states that the Commission’s primary objective is to ensure the expeditious disposal of cases pending before Labour Tribunals. In line with this goal, and after considering all relevant factors, the Commission has established a minimum performance requirement for eligibility for annual salary increments.

Under the new criteria, Presidents of Labour Tribunals must deliver a minimum of 45 orders for contested cases within the relevant year to qualify for their annual salary increment.

The circular also specifies that duly completed applications for annual increments must be submitted to the Secretariat of the Judicial Service Commission within three months of the due date.

The JSC has further clarified that this minimum order requirement will come into effect from 1st of February .
