Sri Lanka is set to establish direct air connectivity with Australia through Jetstar Airways, with services expected to commence in August 2026, according to Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.

The announcement was made following the Minister’s official visits to Australia and New Zealand, highlighting efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and improve travel links between the countries.
The introduction of direct flights by Jetstar Airways is expected to provide a major boost to tourism, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between Sri Lanka and Australia.
Officials believe the new air connection will make travel more convenient and affordable, while creating fresh opportunities for businesses, tourists, students, and the Sri Lankan community living in Australia.
Headquartered in Melbourne, Jetstar is one of Australia’s leading low-cost airlines and the new route is expected to further enhance connectivity between the two nations.
