Jetstar has announced a major change to its carry-on baggage policy, with new fees for overhead locker space starting from February 2027.

Under the new rules, passengers will be allowed one small bag that fits under the seat at no extra cost.
Travellers who wish to place a larger carry-on bag in the overhead locker must purchase a Priority Carry-on option, with fees starting from A$25 and rising to A$52 depending on the route.
Jetstar will also remove its current 7kg carry-on weight limit and instead focus on bag size requirements.
The airline says the changes are designed to speed up boarding, reduce delays and ease congestion around overhead lockers.
The new baggage model brings Jetstar in line with several international low-cost airlines that already charge passengers for overhead cabin baggage.
