Iran declares ‘Victory’ over US and Israel following Trump’s ceasefire announcement

Since President Trump agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, Tehran has described the outcome as a major victory after the United States accepted, in principle, its 10-point plan, according to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

The plan includes provisions such as allowing “regulated passage through the Strait of Hormuz under the coordination of Iran’s Armed Forces,” which the council says would strengthen Iran’s economic and geopolitical position.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Aragachi stated that during the ceasefire, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be ensured through coordination with Iran’s military and in line with technical considerations. He also expressed gratitude to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir for encouraging Trump to implement the ceasefire.

The council further described the outcome as a “crushing defeat” for the United States in what it called an “unfair, unlawful, and criminal war,” adding that the agreement includes lifting sanctions, recognizing Iran’s nuclear enrichment, and acknowledging its control over the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Supreme National Security Council, upcoming negotiations are expected to begin in Islamabad, with Iran expressing distrust toward the US side and allocating two weeks for talks, which may be extended if agreed. The council also emphasized the importance of national unity and warned that Iran will continue to respond firmly if provoked.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration is preparing for possible in-person talks in the coming days as both sides work toward a longer-term agreement, with discussions reportedly involving US officials and Pakistani mediators. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said no final decision has been made, and any meeting would be announced officially.

The ceasefire, mediated by Pakistan, is designed to halt hostilities temporarily while ensuring the Strait of Hormuz remains open, giving negotiators time to pursue a broader deal to end the conflict.
