International Women’s Day is being observed today, 8th of March with this year’s theme focusing on “For ALL women and girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.”
The United Nations officially recognized International Women’s Day on 8th of March 1977.
In Victoria, various programs have been organized to mark the occasion.
The Australian Human Rights Commission has emphasized the need for measures to ensure that all women and girls, regardless of age or disability, can live in an environment of equality.
The Commission is urging the government to allocate sustainable funding for women affected by violence.
Additionally, the Australian Human Rights Commission has called for the formulation of policies that protect the rights and equality of all women in Australia.
