Many international students have expressed concerns that recent changes to student visa regulations by the Australian Federal Government will negatively impact them.
This was revealed in a new survey conducted with nearly 2,300 international students studying in Australia.
The survey, conducted in November and December 2024, highlighted rising living costs, housing issues, and increased course fees as major factors influencing students’ opinions.
Compared to the 2023 survey, negative views have increased among students, though the majority still maintain optimistic expectations for higher education in Australia.
Despite these challenges, many students expressed a strong desire to stay and work in Australia after completing their studies.
Some students also believe that student visa regulations may change due to political factors, particularly the upcoming federal election.
The survey further identified financial pressure as the primary issue faced by most students, followed by unemployment, housing problems, psychological stress, and challenges with the English language.
