Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency has confirmed that 11 people were on board the missing Indonesia Air Transport ATR 42-500 aircraft, registered PK-THT, which lost contact on Saturday while operating a flight from Yogyakarta to Makassar.
The agency’s Director of Operations, Edy Prakoso, said the aircraft was carrying eight crew members and three passengers, with its last contact recorded at 1:17 p.m. local time. Data from AirNav Indonesia indicated that the aircraft’s final known position was near the Leang-Leang area in Maros District, South Sulawesi.
Search and rescue operations were immediately launched from Makassar, with 25 SAR personnel deployed in three teams. The mission involves ground vehicles and drone support to search the aircraft’s last known coordinates.
The National Search and Rescue Agency said the operation is ongoing and will continue intensively until the condition of the aircraft and those on board is confirmed.
