IndiGo is set to operate over 1,650 flights today, up from 1,500 yesterday, the airline said in a status update. Out of 138 destinations, 137 are now operational, with on-time performance reaching 75 per cent, a significant improvement from 30 per cent yesterday.
The airline reiterated that it will offer full waivers on cancellations and rescheduling requests for bookings up to December 15. Refunds and luggage reconciliation are being processed swiftly. “We are working round the clock to resume normal service. Please bear with us,” IndiGo stated.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has taken rapid measures to address the disruption caused by IndiGo’s operational crisis, ensuring passengers do not face prolonged inconvenience. Air travel operations across India are stabilizing quickly, with other domestic airlines operating smoothly and IndiGo steadily improving toward normal schedules.
Airfare Regulation
To prevent overcharging amid recent cancellations and surging demand, the ministry introduced an immediate cap on airfares, ensuring fairness and affordability for travellers. Since the order, fares on affected routes have moderated, and all airlines have been instructed to comply strictly.
Passenger Refunds and Rescheduling
To protect passengers financially, the ministry directed IndiGo to complete all refunds for cancelled or severely delayed flights by 8 pm today. IndiGo has processed refunds totaling INR 6.1 billion. No additional fees are permitted for rescheduling travel affected by cancellations. Dedicated support cells have been set up to ensure refunds and rebookings are handled efficiently.
Baggage Reconciliation and Delivery
The ministry instructed IndiGo to trace and deliver all baggage separated from passengers within 48 hours, with continuous communication maintained throughout. As of yesterday, IndiGo successfully delivered 3,000 pieces of baggage to passengers nationwide.
Airport Operations and On-Ground Support
Airport directors from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Goa reported normal terminal conditions. Passenger movement remains smooth, with no crowding at check-in, security, or boarding points. On-ground support has been strengthened with enhanced monitoring and timely deployment of assistance by airport operators and CISF.
Real-Time Monitoring and Control
MoCA’s 24×7 control room continues to function as an integrated coordination hub, overseeing flight operations, airport conditions, and passenger support. Teams remain on the ground supervising operational planning, crew rostering, and passenger handling to ensure compliance with standards.
Passenger Reassurance
The Ministry of Civil Aviation assured the public that passenger safety, convenience, and dignity remain the highest priorities. The aviation network is returning to full normalcy, with corrective measures remaining in place until operations stabilize completely. The ministry will continue vigilant monitoring to protect passenger rights and interests and provide further updates as required.
